Program
Day 1:
Upon arrival you will be picked up by your guide and taken to the reception.
After a light lunch it is time to get to know your horse for the week. We start with a short introductory ride to see if horse and rider can find each other. Then we go to our camp, where dinner is served in the Llala Palm dining room of the Two Mashatus camp.
Day 2:
The day starts at sunrise with tea or coffee served in your tent, followed by breakfast. We start on a quiet ride
along the dense forest to the Limpopo river and on to the shallow, rocky hills that mark the edges of the great river valley. Your destination for this night two is Majele River Camp, a rustic series of cabins above the steep and shady shores of the Majele River. This is the heart of the Mashatu Game Reserve and the habitat of many species of wild animals. The Tuli area is home to one of the largest herds of wild elephants south of the Zambezi River and you are guaranteed fantastic views of these impressive herds.
After lunch and a siesta we take a walk to a nearby viewpoint, known as the "Majele Koppie".
Dinner is served in the wicker sala overlooking the river.
Day 3:
Today we travel through the heart of Mashatu between ancient rock formations, typical of the Limpopo valley. Whimsical baobab trees guard the land as they have done for centuries.
We take old elephant paths and enjoy long gallopades through the savannah. This ride takes us to the banks of the Motloutse river and between dense old forests of Mashatu trees. We spend the night in a so-called "Kgotla", a traditional, ancient tribal court that was kept here in this bead. This traditional African housing in the open air provides perfect protection and the night is spent under the stars. A unique experience to experience the African bush at night in this way.
The afternoon activity on day three is the choice of a guided walk or a ride to the "Amphitheater", an ancient rock formation. The walk ends with the traditional aperitif, while you look out over the Motloutse river. Back at the 'The Kgotla' dinner is served around the cozy campfire.
The night is spent under a blanket of a million stars, but in a comfortable
Day 4: Today you can choose from a morning and afternoon ride, where we visit the beautiful sandstone formations, including the famous Wall of Salomon. Some of the oldest civilizations in southern Africa had their settlements in this valley; their kings were safe in royal beads at the top of the hills. The topography of Mapungubwe is timeless and we are guaranteed to encounter a lot of wildlife. Or perhaps the group prefers a long morning ride and an afternoon trip to the nearby village of Lentswe Le Moriti where we see basket weavers at work, followed by a trip to the Mmamagwa Hills. At the end of a short easy climb and under a beautiful Baobab you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Tuli area with South Africa in the south, Zimbabwe in the north and Botswana around you. The gin & tonic that you drink in this spectacular environment, you will remember years later! Day 5: A hearty breakfast is a good start for what is probably your longest day on horseback. Through the Mopane bush, with the chance to see elephants, we drive to the plains near the Limpopo river. Liana Camp is nestled between gigantic Mashatu trees on the edge of a lagoon, a tributary of the Limpopo. This afternoon we go on horseback to find the three big cats that this area is known for: leopard, cheetah and lion! Day 6: Our ride today goes through the beautiful plains between the Mojali River and the Majele River. Today we see a lot of game again and we get a spectacular view of the Limpopo River. Through the valley we drive back to our base camp, Two Mashatus, where you have the opportunity to relax by the pool. In the afternoon we drive to the Koppies mountain and end the ride with the now traditional aperitif. Day 7: Today we will see a lot of wild animals again. We explore the valley of the Pitsane River, which rises high in the hills at a source where thirsty herds come to drink. We picnic under the shady Mashatu trees and explore the region in the afternoon. Once there was a stagecoach service, the Zeederbergs, which came from the Transvaal in South Africa and walked to the settlements in Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. We return to the camp in the afternoon for a refreshing drink around the pool.

Day 8: Our last ride in the Limpopo valley offers us the chance to take a final photo of wild elephants or giraffes and do a long gallop through the bush. Then there is time to enjoy a hot shower and a tasty brunch before we take you to the airport.
